![]() Searchable Symmetric Encryption (SSE) when deployed in the cloud allows one to query encrypted data without the risk of data leakage. Analysis shows that our scheme is secure and efficient for cloud storage. Our scheme also guarantees access control of users during the data retrieval by attribute-based encryption. We also use the relevance score from information retrieval to build a secure searchable index, and apply an additive order-preserving encryption to protect the sensitive scores of files. The proposed ranked searchable encryption scheme enhances system usability by ranking results instead of just sending undifferentiated results and ensures file retrieval accuracy. ![]() We address these problems and suggest a multi-keyword ranked search over encrypted data on cloud storage. Their scheme has problems in index construction, trapdoor generation and search procedures. In this paper, we investigate the Pasupuleti et al.’s scheme which is a multi-keyword ranked search over encrypted cloud data. Considering the large number of data users and documents in the cloud, users may be interested to perform multi-keyword search and receive the most related data. So, equipping cloud server with search service over encrypted data is an important issue. For protecting data privacy, sensitive data must be encrypted before outsourcing. With the advent of cloud computing, data owners are motivated to outsource their data to public clouds for decreasing the cost of management systems. Our results show that ShadowFPE is practical since it has low computational overhead and requires minimal modification in existing applications. ![]() ![]() We confirmed the effectiveness and security of ShadowFPE through case studies on web applications. Compared with ShadowCrypt, ShadowFPE does not destroy the data format and makes the data usable in most of cloud web applications. In this paper, we present ShadowFPE, a novel format-preserving encryption that makes use of a robust property in Shadow DOM to obtain a feasible solution. Hence, currently there is no effective and secure solution to guarantee the privacy of users. Furthermore, some attacks on ShadowCrypt have been proposed. Note that ShadowCrypt is no longer compliant to the updated W3C standard since 2015. Unfortunately, researchers have shown that ShadowCrypt is vulnerable to several attacks. ShadowCrypt, proposed in CCS 2014, is the first and so far only solution that can achieve this by leveraging the encapsulation provided by Shadow DOM V0, without the need for the users to trust neither server nor client codes of web applications. An ideal solution would be to allow apps to work with encrypted data, so that users might be more willing to provide just the encrypted version of their sensitive data. Most of users hesitate to use third-party web applications because of security and privacy concerns. Furthermore, we discussed the challenges, future directions, and applications of SE schemes. A comparative analysis of SE schemes is also provided on security and performance. In this survey, we presented the taxonomy of the SE schemes: symmetric searchable encryption, public key searchable encryption, and attribute-based searchable encryption schemes, and then provided a detailed discussion on the SE schemes in terms of index structure and search functionality. In this paper, we surveyed different SE schemes which are existed in the cloud domain. It protects the user’s sensitive information by providing searchability on encrypted data stored in the cloud. To achieve search over encrypted data without compromising the privacy, searchable encryption (SE) schemes have been proposed. Encrypting the data before outsourcing provides privacy, but it does not provide search functionality. However, outsourcing sensitive data into the cloud leads to privacy issues. With the emergence of cloud computing, data owners are showing interest to outsource the data to the cloud servers and allowing the data users to access the data as and when required.
